- Raw material: cotton leads for baby use thanks to moisture absorption and air permeability
- Chemical safety: Oeko-Tex Standard 100 tests more than 100 chemicals that may be harmful to human health; baby articles are assessed in the strictest class
- Size: 90×120 cm is common for cots and prams; smaller sizes are preferred for use over a swaddle
- Surface: smooth woven surfaces are easier to clean than long-pile ones
- Edge finishing: a sound edge prevents yarn pulls and fraying

Why Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Matters
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an international standard under which textile products are independently laboratory-tested and certified against harmful chemicals. Care
Baby blankets should be washed before first use. Cotton products can be washed at 30–40 °C; a fragrance-free, dye-free detergent is appropriate for sensitive skin. Fabric softener coats the fibre surface and can reduce moisture absorption, so it is not recommended for baby products.
