Printed and Jacquard Blanket

In short: In a jacquard blanket the pattern is created with yarn colours during weaving; it gives a relief effect and does not wash off. In a printed blanket the pattern is transferred onto the woven surface, allowing multi-colour and photographic designs.

Which One, When?

For a classic, permanent pattern: jacquard. Checks, geometrics and motif-led designs hold up better inside the weave.
For multi-colour, detailed or seasonal designs: print. New Year, children's and campaign collections are produced this way.
For small runs and a fast season launch: print is more flexible, since no loom set-up is needed.

Colour Fastness

Dyestuffs used in both techniques are subjected to wash and rub fastness testing. In jacquard production the pattern is in the yarn itself, so colour loss is assessed at fibre level rather than on the surface. In printing, print–fabric compatibility and fixation conditions are decisive. See our production page for laboratory processes.

Care

For patterned blankets, washing separately the first time and turning the product inside out are recommended. A 30 °C delicate cycle, low-speed spinning and drying in the shade extend pattern life; direct sunlight can cause colour to lighten.
